Topics for discussion included Housing First and stigma

Today saw a meeting of the Homelessness Research Programme’s National Expert via Experience Standing Advisory Group. The group is a collaboration between King’s College London, the London School of Economics and the University of Salford.

The main focus of the meeting was on the ‘lived experience’ of different models of Housing First with a presentation on the innovative REACH model originating from Scarborough. This brings together housing support workers, mental health nurses and a domestic abuse practitioner working in close partnership with many other agencies including neighbourhood policing. There was also discussion of research about tackling stigma and new studies that will looking at the integration of mental health supports in hostels.
