Quantum Physics: The Second Revolution

The Maxwell Society's annual weekend retreat takes place midway through the second semester at Cumberland Lodge. Located in the heart of the Great Park in Windsor.
The Weekend programme is usually based on a theme and centres around six seminars that take place between the Friday and Sunday. The theme for 2019 is 'Quantum Physics: The Second Revolution'. Meals, travel to and from the hotel, and two nights accommodation are included in the ticket price (£95 per person to Maxwell Society members). The Maxwell society organise the welcome event as well as quizzes and other social activities that take place during the stay.

The Lodge features a private tennis court with basic equipment supplied. Croquet and boules can be played in the garden, weather permitting. There is a small gym, and a small number of bicycles, subject to availability. There is a snooker table, pool table, table tennis and table football game in the basement. In addition, the basement has a dedicated room for student parties equipped with an iPod docking station, CD players and disco lighting. Grand pianos are located in both the Drawing Room and Tapestry Hall, and there is an electronic organ in the Chapel. Local attractions include The Savill Garden, The Valley Gardens, Virginia Water, Windsor Castle and St George's Chapel, Eton College and at Runnymede the Magna Carta, Kennedy and Royal Air Force Memorials.
