Biography

Areej Abuqudairi is a PhD candidate in Interdisciplinary Policy Studies. Her research explores broadly the relationship between coloniality and women’s rights in the Arab region, with a focus on feminist activism and policy reform in Jordan and Tunisia.

Areej brings an interdisciplinary approach that bridges academia, media, and advocacy. Her research and teaching draw on decolonial pedagogies and epistemologies, which challenge dominant narratives in knowledge production and view research as a drive for social change.

Prior to her doctoral studies, Areej served as a Lecturer at Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) in Jordan, where she taught Human Rights and Soft Skills courses. She developed new curricula that integrated advocacy, communication, and leadership skills to support students’ personal and professional growth.

Before joining academia, Areej led a career in journalism and humanitarian research. She has reported for Al Jazeera English, The New Humanitarian, and Reuters. She led and contributed to research projects on refugees, gender equality and activism.

Areej contributes to teaching the following modules at King’s:

  • Social Justice and Policy Analysis
