Biography

Sarah Alkandari is a dentist who joined the Garnett group in 2021 while enrolled in her clinical MSc in Paediatric Dentistry at KCL. Her MSc thesis was a pilot to set up the protocol for her PhD project and obtain NHS ethical approval.

Sarah obtained her MSc in Oral Microbiology from Kuwait University in 2019. She completed her BSc in Dental Medicine and BSc in Medical Sciences from Kuwait University in 2014 and 2011 respectively.

Sarah's main research interests are dental cariology, clinical dental biofilms, bacterial extracellular vesicles and probiotics.

The Garnett Lab investigates molecular mechanisms that promote bacterial disease. In particular we are interested in biofilm formation and other key virulence traits that allow bacteria to establish infections and persist within the host/environment.
