Flexible by design, the LLM Excellence Academy can be completed before your LL.M. begins or alongside your studies, allowing you to build strong foundations and reinforce your learning throughout your programme.

Open to students pursuing or considering an LL.M. at any UK university, this online law course equips you to transition smoothly into postgraduate study and make the most of your learning experience from day one.

Whether you are preparing to start your degree or are already enrolled, the course helps you build confidence, sharpen your legal skills, and adapt to UK teaching methodologies. It is particularly valuable for international students seeking to understand the expectations of UK postgraduate legal education and the wider legal environment.

While delivered by King’s College London, the programme is open to students applying to or studying at any UK law school, creating a global and diverse learning community.

 

Course Structure

The programme consists of five core modules and one optional module, delivered through a flexible online format that adapts to your schedule.

Each module combines short expert-led video lectures, guided readings, and practical self-assessments, allowing you to build skills step-by-step and immediately apply what you learn.

The course is designed to be completed in approximately 4–6 weeks, with a recommended commitment of 3–4 hours per week. However, with 12 months of access, you can revisit materials at any time, making it an ideal companion both before and during your LL.M. journey.

Assessment is designed to support your learning rather than test it. Each module includes informal self-assessment quizzes to reinforce your understanding and track your progress. 

Certificate

Upon completion, you will receive a King’s digital Certificate of Completion, recognising your preparation for postgraduate legal study in the UK.

This programme is non-credit bearing and does not replace or contribute to an LL.M. degree.

Entry requirements

There are no formal academic prerequisites, making this course accessible to anyone considering postgraduate legal study in the UK.

Course access is available for 12 months, with immediate access to all course materials upon registration. The programme is delivered via King’s virtual learning environment (KEATS), allowing you to study entirely online at your own pace.
