Britain is in an economic bind driven by its long and persistent failure to grow. As a result, living standards have been stagnant for almost two decades, creating a steadily growing sense of national malaise.

Britain needs a much stronger and more effective growth strategy. This series of papers, to be published over the coming months, will aim to show that such a strategy is very possible: countries can and do raise their growth rates.

Drawing on the authors' extensive experience of growth policy-making in Government, the papers will focus on concrete and deliverable policy measures, covering a wide range of topics. These will aim to be ambitious but to remain within the realm of the politically possible, regardless of party in Government.
