Our approach

The King's School for Government provides a unique blend of research, executive education, and training for professionals to help them face the challenges of the future.

You'll be taught not only by a range of academics who are leading thinkers in their areas, but also by practitioners – including policymakers, politicians or civil servants – with first-hand experience of working at the heart of government.

We currently deliver programmes for clients including the UK Civil Service Policy Profession, the UK Government Policy Fast Stream programme, the Department of Health and Social Care, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Government of Jersey.

Cash Lab

A new research project examining whether, and when, giving people direct financial support – without conditions on how they spend it – can break the cycle of poverty and improve outcomes. The Lab will bring together six randomised trials across the UK which are testing different kinds of cash interventions, delivered in different ways, to different groups of people.

Solidarity Symposia

School for Government is hosting a series of five Solidarity Symposia to support PhD students and early career researchers working in the social sciences and focusing on issues of social justice, offering space to share ideas, build networks and gain recognition. Each one-day hybrid event features keynote speakers, research presentations, and a £500 prize for the best talk.
