Course overview
This course provides an opportunity for those working in an advanced level of practice to integrate, synthesise and demonstrate the application of knowledge around an area of specialism through clinical case presentation in their workplace.
The course aims at developing advanced practitioners to demonstrate advanced practice and clinical decision making skills in assessing and managing patients/clients.
What does this course cover?
The aim of this module is to provide an overview of Advanced Clinical Practice and to examine the barriers and facilitators in practice. Students will be using the Department of Health pillars of Advanced Practice and the 2017 NHS England Advanced Clinical Practice Framework. Students will also examine the issues that affect NHS care including resources, public health priorities, an ageing population and other factors.
What will I achieve?
Through this module you will have the opportunity to further develop as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner and be a competent and confident practitioner within the context of your workplace with its various facilitators and barriers. You will work clinically with your nominated supervisor that allows you to develop your advanced assessment, diagnostic and leadership skills.

How will I be assessed?
You are assessed through coursework and may typically expect assessment including a 2500-word essay and log book of six clinical assessments. Clinical assessment documents must be passed but do not contribute to the final mark.
