Course overview

By studying French Level 2, you will be able to understand general and detailed information and to communicate in standard speech on a range of everyday issues, be able to read printed and handwritten script on a limited number of everyday topics, be able to write simple texts using descriptive language accurately and developed intercultural competence.

Topics may include:

  • Social interactions
  • Meeting friends
  • Hobbies and preferences
  • Holidays memories and weather
  • Tourism
  • Accommodation and living conditions

Functions may include:

  • Introducing yourself
  • Talking about one’s tastes
  • Suggesting, accepting and refusing an invitation to go out
  • Talking about past events and experiences
  • Writing postcards
  • Understanding smalls texts, articles and ads
  • Talking about one’s accommodation
  • Describing a place
  • Comparing and expressing feelings

Grammar may includes:

  • Revision and consolidation of grammar introduced at level 1 (Present tense, Near Future, Perfect tense)
  • Perfect tense + agreement (regular and irregular verbs)
  • The Negative form (ne…rien/personne/jamais/plus)
  • Duration: pendant / il y a / depuis
  • C’était/ il y avait/il faisait : Introduction to the Imperfect tense
  • Pronouns “y” and “en” The place of the adjectives
  • Relative pronouns “qui, que, où”
  • Comparatives
  • The possessive pronouns

What will I achieve?

When French Level 2 is complete, you will achieve the equivalent of A1/A2 level of the CEFR, level 1 of the QCF, equivalent of GCSE/ O-level grade A.
