Course overview

This course is designed to develop the knowledge and skills of nurses working with neonates who require high dependency nursing care.  Aspects of care include the neonate requiring NCPAP, Stoma care, TPN and nutrition and haematological problems.

Applicants should have some experience in a high dependency environment and ideally have completed the Special Care course or equivalent. Students who work in units only providing level 1 care may benefit from gaining some experience in a level 2 unit. This should be negotiated with trust managers prior to the module commencing.
