Take part in King's research about adapting to student life

A group of ten students pose in front of a building entrance on Guy's campus, each student is wearing a King's lanyard and the image was taken in the summer so is bright.

Are you a first-year undergraduate student? Are you interested in contributing to research into students’ social lives?

Then why not take the U-Belong Student Social Experiences survey? You’ll get the chance to win one of ten £100 Love2Shop vouchers and help make universities more socially supportive environments for all students.

What’s the survey about?

U-Belong is a research project that aims to understand what influences students’ social experiences as they make the transition to university. It's being carried out by a team of researchers at King's, Portsmouth, Swansea and Glasgow universities.

The survey is designed to capture what student social life looks like post-Covid. A sense of belonging can be seen as the opposite of loneliness, so the survey asks questions about your feelings and sense of connection as well as your activities.

You'll be asked questions like the following:

  • Have you joined a society at your Students’ Union?
  • Have you had the opportunity to meet people on your course?
  • Are you living with new people in university halls of residence for the first time?

How can I take part?

The survey is open to first-year students only.

If you take part, you’ll be asked to complete it at two time points, once in September or October 2023 and again in early 2024. Each survey will take about 25 minutes to complete.

Students who complete the survey at both time points will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win one of 10 Love2Shop vouchers, worth £100 each.
