King’s students and staff can now donate items directly to partner charities, thanks to King’s Volunteering’s new Donation Stations on campus.
Many charities and community organisations rely on donations from the public, from clothing and blankets to items for babies, toiletries, food, and much more. To help support their work we are introducing donation points at each of our campuses where students and staff can donate items for charity.
I think this new scheme is a fantastic idea! It will allow students like me - who have a hectic work schedule and limited time to dedicate to volunteering - to give something back to the community and make a difference. This new initiative will allow all students and staff - even those short on time - to have a positive impact on our local communities.– Ben Ettridge, member of the Student Advisory Board for Volunteering and Third Year Economics and Management
The first donation drive will run from 12 May to 13 June 2023, collecting items for Little Village, a charity that provides clothes, toys and equipment for babies and preschoolers to local families in need.
Donation items needed for Little Village
- Clothes and coats (0-6 years).
- Shoes (children's size 3 - 13).
- Slings & baby carriers.
- Towels & blankets.
- Changing mats & changing bags.
- Feeding & weaning kits - plates, bowls, cutlery, sippy cups and beakers.
- New nappies, wipes & toiletries for baby, toddler & mum (new and unopened).
- Toys and books.
Please note that all donations must be of great quality and condition. The items that Little Village pass on to families are a gift, given with love, from one family to another. Please bear this in mind when you are preparing your donations and only donate items you would be happy to pass on to a family member or friend – so no stained, worn out or broken items please.
You can find out more about the current donation drive on the King’s Volunteering website.
