Given the number of exciting events coming up this year, KCLSU decided to extend Trans Awareness Week.
From Monday 14 – Sunday 27 November 2022, KCLSU will be hosting a Trans Awareness Festival to honour and celebrate the trans community at King's and beyond.
The Festival runs over two-weeks for transgender people and their allies take action to bring attention to the community by:
- educating the public about who transgender people are
- sharing stories and experiences
- advancing advocacy around the issues of prejudice, discrimination, and violence that affect the transgender community.
In collaboration with the KCLSU LGBT+ Network, the Union are hosting several events and sharing trans stories and experiences with a focus on this year’s theme, 'Our Trans Tomorrow'.
Other student societies involved include the LGBT+ Soc, Liberate KCL and Poetry Soc and there are a range of events from an exhibition to a clothes swap, poetry evenings to workshops.
KCLSU also invite students to sign and commit a pledge to stand in active solidarity with the trans community at King's and in wider society.
Find out more about the Festival and sign-up for events on the KCLSU website.
