Hi everyone, my name is Ellen Clark-King, and I'm the Dean of King's. I'd like to wish all of our Sikh students and staff a very happy Vaisakhi. This annual celebration of the Sikh rite of initiation, the Khalsa, is a joyful festival for Sikhs around the world. It's a time to affirm Sikhi identity and give thanks for Guru Gobind Singh, who formalised the rite in 1699.

This year, it offers an opportunity for all of us to remember the people in our lives who have helped us to become our best selves. Are there mentors or family members or friends who you feel particularly grateful to for helping guide or support you? Never underestimate how much it means to tell them so.

May all our Sikh staff and students find joy in their Sikh identity, and may we all find time to give thanks for those we love. To all who celebrate, Vadhaiyan Vaisakhi Diyan – have a very happy Vaisakhi.

Dear students & staff, May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Vaisakhi. The Sikh teachings remind us that courage and compassion are the foundations of caring for our communities. May this year we commit to serving humanity, standing strong against injustice and oppression and in the words of the tenth Nanak recognising “the human race as one.– Sardarni Navleen Kaur MBE, Sikh Chaplain
