This new course provides students with the core components of a traditional law degree, together with detailed knowledge of how crime, the criminal law and the criminal justice system are shaped by broader political concerns about the causes of crime and patterns of criminality and recidivism.

The content has been designed for students who are interested in socio-legal questions that extend beyond an understanding of specific legal instruments, to questions about the construction of criminality and processes of criminalisation, the legitimacy of state punishments and definitions of, and differential access to, justice.

The course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as providing a graduate basis for chartered membership of the society (GBC). Quantitative Mathematics is a mathematically rigorous degree that combines strong foundations in pure mathematics with applied modelling, computation and data-informed problem solving. The programme features innovative, dialogic teaching approaches, a structured modelling pathway running through all three years, and opportunities for project-based and collaborative work. Graduates are well prepared for mathematically intensive careers or further study, with strong analytical, computational and communication skills.

This course is designed for students with A-level Mathematics who have developed a strong interest in the subject and want to take it further. You do not need A-level Further Mathematics to apply.
