Exciting science discoveries at King's
King's chemists find laundry detergent enzymes recycles single-use plastics
Bioplastics, such as those used in coffee cups, often end up in the landfill because they take too long to break down. Our scientists are exploring how they can make the process more efficient and create a higher-value product. Find out more.
King's chemist turns back clock on origins of life
Chemist Dr Saidul Islam and a team from UCL have synthesised pantetheine, a compound necessary for all life, using hydrogen cyanide in water. Through its creation in early Earth conditions, the team hope to turn back the clock on how chemistry contributed to complex life at it's genesis. Find out more.
