Who's who in NMES Professional Services: Natural Sciences Programme Team

This week, the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical and Engineering Sciences' 'Who's who in Professional Services' column is talking to team who are supporting our new interdisciplinary Natural Sciences Programmes.

We chat to Natural Sciences Programme Manager Alyeisha Joseph, Programme Manager Alexander Wateron and Senior Programme Officer about their roles in the Faculty and what they get up to outside King's.

Alyeisha Joseph

Name: Alyeisha Joseph

Title: Senior Programme Manager

Bio: I'm Alyeisha, I joined King's in April this year. I previously worked at Imperial College London, overseeing the delivery of their undergraduate science degrees within the School of Medicine. Outside of work, you'll find me holding tightly to a hoop or silks, suspended in mid-air as I learn aerial acrobatics.

Bucket List: To sail to Antarctica, although I don't like the cold! The landscape and wildlife would make this the trip of a lifetime!

Role in the Department: I lead the Natural Sciences Programmes Team, responsible for planning and delivering administrative support for our new interdisciplinary Natural Sciences Programmes. I work closely with Alex and Kate, and as a new team we are collaboratively defining processes and systems to ensure successful programme delivery and enhance the experience for students and colleagues involved.

Alex Waterson

Name: Alex Waterson

Title: Programmes Manager

Bio: I joined NMES in late March. Prior to this I worked at the University of Sussex in the Educations teams at the Media, Arts and Humanities school and the Business school. I enjoy going to gigs, reading and watching films.

Bucket List: I have always wanted to visit Japan, see Mount Fuji and go to the Studio Ghibli Museum.

Role in the Department: I am responsible for the operational management and delivery of programme administration for the BSc Natural Sciences programmes. My responsibilities involve overseeing the assessment and progression processes, managing pastoral care needs and providing frontline support to students. Other general operational and management duties involve process development/improvement, monitoring and reviewing service delivery and working with stakeholders to develop and implement service improvements.

Kate Horan

Name: Kate Horan

Title: Senior Programmes Officer

Bio: I'm Kate, the latest addition to the new Natural Sciences Programme Team - having joined in mid-May. Prior to this I was a Programme Administrator in the School of Psychological Sciences at Birkbeck, University of London. Before moving into Higher Education, I worked in a variety of administrative and customer services roles.

Bucket List: I love horror (films/books/pretty much anything), so it would be fun to spend a night at The Stanley Hotel, which served as the inspiration for Stephen King's The Shinning.

Role in the Department: I help plan programme cycles, coordinate programme administration processes, and provide frontline support for students.
