Research Themes

In addition to the main research areas represented by our six research groups (Agents and Intelligent Systems, Algorithms and Bioinformatics, Centre for Robotics Research, Centre for Telecommunications Research, Planning, Software Modelling and Applied Logic), there are various groupings of researchers in the Department working on different research themes.

Details of some of these research themes are given below.

Complex Adaptive Networks and Systems

This cross-disciplinary research theme focuses on advanced modelling, analysis, prediction and visualisation approaches inspired by and applied to complex adaptive networks and systems.

Network Structure and Search (NESS)

This research theme is based around modelling and exploring large networks, network algorithms and random processes on networks.

Software Development

The aim of this research theme is to identify important challenges in software development and pursue high quality research while addressing those challenges.
