KEATS (e-Learning)

King's primary web-based online learning environment is KEATS (King's E-learning and Teaching Service). It is accessible from the College and externally, via Student Records or the direct link to KEATS. You will find teaching materials for all your modules on KEATS. It is your responsibility to make sure you have access to the correct modules and that you check KEATS regularly for new material.


Please note that KEATS will ask you to "enrol" on a chosen module: this is purely KEATS terminology and has nothing to do with module registration.


How do I access KEATS?

You can access KEATS from the internal web pages by clicking on the e-learning button then clicking on the KEATS link. Alternatively, you can gain direct access to the e-learning service via - this is where you will see the login screen. Log in using your King's username and password (the same you use for email and other KCL systems).

KEATS Student Support Course

Once you have logged in, at the top of the screen you will see a drop down menu called 'Support' and within this menu 'Student Guides'. Click on the link. The KEATS Student Support Course provides guidance on logging in and familiarising yourself with KEATS and offers a range of helpful resources. You should spend some time familiarising yourself with this material. This course should be your first port of call if you need any help or have any problems with KEATS and any of its functions.

How do I see my modules on KEATS?

The Department’s modules require self-enrolment which means that you need to log in to KEATS and then self enrol on the course before you can view the teaching material.  

1. To find a module go to KEATS and enter your King's login details (the same you use for email and other KCL systems).

2. In the 'Find a course' box enter the module code or title. If you want to see a list of modules for your year, enter the first part of the module code, e.g. 4CCS (Informatics), 4CCM (Mathematics) or 4CCP (Physics) for first year modules.

2. Click on the relevant module title.

3. Click on the ‘enrol me’ button.

4. Once enrolled, the course will be added to a personalised list of courses, which you can find in the Navigation box under the tab “My courses”. You should now have access!

Who do I contact if I have problems using KEATS?

If you are not able to see a module listed in KEATS that you know should be there then you should contact your Programme Administrator.

However, if you are experiencing technical issues with KEATS (including not being able to log in) then the College IT Service Desk is the primary point of contact. When contacting the IT Service Desk you must provide as much detail of the module as you can - ideally, the module code and title. Emails should be used for non-urgent issues only. If your matter is urgent you should telephone the IT Service Desk on 0207 848 8888 Monday-Friday 0800-1800.

Debtor access
Student access to services such as KCL email and KEATS can be removed as a penalty for students with outstanding debts to the College. The removal of these services typically comes after a series of warnings.

It is College policy that even a small debt (e.g. a Library fine) can flag a student as a debtor.

Reinstating these services typically takes five working days which can have implications for meeting coursework submission deadlines (and can result in a 0 mark) as well as missing important College/departmental messages.

This is out of the department’s control and is due to the processes of Credit Control, the Student Funding office and IT Services.
