Adrian Constantin


Title: Visiting Professor in Analysis


Adrian Constantin (born 1970) received his B.S. in 1991 and his M.S. in 1992, both from the University of Nice (France). He completed his Ph.D. in 1996 at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (New York University, USA) and was awarded the habilitation degree in 1999 at the University of Zürich (Switzerland).

After post-doctoral positions at the University of Basel and at the University of Zürich (Switzerland), and a brief period as lecturer at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, he was appointed in 2000 to a chair in mathematics at Lund University (Sweden). For the period 2004-2008 he held the Erasmus Smith's Chair of Mathematics (1762) at Trinity College Dublin. He has been Professor of Mathematics at the University of Vienna (Austria) since 2008, and is the current holder of the Chair in Analysis at King's College London.

  • "Fluid Dynamics Research" prize of the Japanese Society of Fluid Mechanics (2008)
  • "F. W. Bessel'' prize in Mathematics of the Humboldt Foundation, Germany (2007)
  • "G. Gustafsson'' prize in Mathematics of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (2005)
