Open to all, this event, part of King's Brazil Week, will explore mental health reform in Brazil from a variety of academic perspectives, including seminars delivered by David Treece, Ilana Gorban, and Felipe Botelho. 


10:00- coffee reception – welcome by Brazil Institute & SPLAS 

10:30 –12:00 –  David  Treece: “Banzo, mania, trauma – a brief panorama of mental illness in Brazilian history and literature” and Sara Evans-Lacko - "What can we learn from Brazil to develop innovative mental health systems in a changing global context"

12:00-13:00- Lunch

14:00- 15:30- Ilana Gorban - "Theatre and Mental Health",  and Raluca Soreanu - "Social Clinics and the Social Creativities of Psychoanalysis: A Vignette from Rio de Janeiro".

15:30- 16:00-coffee and round table discussion
