Workshop on EU-China Relations in a Globalised World
Time: 26 October, 10am-4pm
Venue: King’s College London (by invitation only)
The Lau China Institute, the Department of European & International Studies and the College of Europe are hosting a workshop on ‘EU-China Relations in a Globalised World’. The workshop will bring together European and Chinese practitioners involved in moving forward relations between China and the EU, along with scholars and researchers studying different aspects of this relationship. Panels will focus on the challenges and opportunities of EU-China bilateral relations, their respective approaches to global governance, and the influence of their relationship on third countries and regions. The workshop will thus involve a holistic analysis of a relationship poised to shape international politics and economics in the 21st century.
Staff and affiliates from the Lau China Institute will be involved in the workshop. Dr Ramon Pacheco Pardo will examine the similarities and differences between the approaches of China and the EU to global governance. Meanwhile, Dr Timothy Hildebrandt and Dr Suzanne Xiao Yang will each be chairing one panel and participating in discussions. Other participants include staff from the European External Action Service, the Commission Representation in the UK, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Chinese media, and leading European universities and think tanks.
A summary of conference proceedings will be published after the event
