Application fee
All applications require payment of a non-refundable application fee that must be paid at the time of submitting the application. Please note that the application fee rises after our early application deadline of 31 May. Unfortunately we are unable to process any application without payment of the application fee.
Applications received before our early application deadline (31 May): £55
Applications received from 1 June and before our late application deadline (15 June): £120
Payment of fees
If your application is successful then you will be issued with an invoice covering all relevant fees that we require to be paid. All invoices should be paid within 30 days, or by the appropriate early/late application deadline, whichever is sooner. We are unable to confirm your place on the Summer School until your fees have been paid in full. As all places are offered on a first-come, first-served basis then early payment of fees is advised. Details of how to pay your fees will be provided with your invoice.
Discounts: university partners, alumni, King's students and university groups
We currently offer tuition fee discounts to the following groups:
Strategic university partners: The college currently has seven global university partner institutions. Students from these institutions will receive a discount on tuition fees.
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU); National University of Singapore (NUS); Renmin University of China; University of Sao Paulo (USP); University of California, San Francisco (UCSF); University of Hong Kong (HKU); University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). If you are a member of one of these universities please contact us at summerschool@kcl.ac.uk before applying.
King's alumni and previous Summer School students: We currently offer a tution fee discount to all King's alumni, including previous Summer School students. Please select the appropriate option on the application form and include your King's Alumni number.
Current King's students: If you are a current King's student then you are entitled to an application fee waiver and a tuition fee discount. Please contact us at summerschool@kcl.ac.uk for further details and the King's student application form.
Visiting student groups: We already welcome a number of visiting university groups to the Summer School each year. If you are a university department, faculty member or international office interested in discussing group options then please contact Ian Fielding, Programme Manager for further information: ian.fielding@kcl.ac.uk.
Course trips and travel costs
Some courses may attract supplementary course-specific costs and these costs are not included within the Tuition Fee. These may include activities, performances or excursions, such as musical or theatre performances, visits to libraries, museums and other places of interest, either within London or further afield. In courses where students are expected to take part in these activities, performances or excursions then they will be expected to pay for these in addition to the Tuition Fees.
Where there are additional items, trips and travel costs that involve the student paying over £100 e.g. Eurostar train to Brussels, then we will normally notify the student in advance through either our website or by email when details are confirmed. It is the students responsibility to check additional costs and expenditure and the Summer School does not accept responsibility for additional costs not being advertised in advance. We will of course endeavour to do so where possible.
Insurance
We strongly advise that our students take out a comprehensive insurance policy. This policy should cover health and personal possessions as well as any costs associated with the Summer School should they be forced to withdraw after payment of fees.
Financial assistance
The Department of Classics is delighted to offer a number of bursaries of up to £500 for students planning to study on either Latin or Ancient Greek. To apply for a bursary you must for apply for and be accepted on King's College London Summer School. Please visit the Department of Classics webpage for detailed information.
Summer School is unable to provide any financial assistance for any of our other courses or attendance on our programme.
