Briefly, could you tell us about your background and career up to this point?

I qualified as a Registered Nurse from the Shropshire Training School in Shrewsbury and went to work in a perioperative rotation. I have worked in Higher Education since 2003 and have been a leader in HE since 2015, including roles across the University. My career has had a significant technology supported learning focus and I am passionate about inclusive-by-design pedagogy. I joined King’s in 2023 as a Senior Lecturer and I became Associate Dean in May 2025. I really love the vibe of NMPC and the wider College.

What does your role as Associate Dean (Undergraduate and Pre-registration Studies) involve?

My role is focused upon supporting tutors, module teams and programme leaders to develop our UG and Pre-Registration offer for students. This includes assessments, digital accessibility, innovative pedagogy, course design, reviews, and progression. I will be supporting the faculty planning and response to the NSS and, I am involved in a range projects. Finally, I am a module leader and teacher (including teaching in India and China).

Why is it so important to have a dedicated Associate Dean role for this in our faculty?

There are many examples of innovative practice within the Undergraduate & Pre-Registration programmes at King’s. Sometimes, good practice can exist in pockets often because of the modular structure of courses; as an Associate Dean, I will champion good practice and look to ensure that it influences across our provision. I really enjoy meeting staff and students and hearing ideas; I hope to be a vector for ideas to become practice.

What is your favourite thing about working at King’s?

King’s is a diverse and exciting place to work; in my time here, I have learnt so much from colleagues and students. We are a vibrant, engaged learning community based in one of the creative hubs in London, the Southbank.

What do you do with your time outside of work?

Most of my time is dedicated to supporting family activities; beyond this, my passion is motorcycling (I am a Fellow of the IAM), reading and long-distance walking. I collect books, mostly Folio books, however, thanks to a colleague at King’s, I am now looking at rare books too. I am also thinking about getting my PPL; however, I am aware that this is a timely endeavour.
