Genres of the Human: on Sylvia Wynter

On 7-8 June 2018, King's College London will host the first UK conference focused on the work of the Honorable Sylvia Wynter OJ, one of King's most illustrious alumni, with keynote presentations by scholars Denise Ferreira da Silva (University of British Columbia) and Alexander G. Weheliye (Northwestern University).

King's artist Paddy Hartley speed pottery sessions

Paddy Hartley, a King's artist in residence at the Dental Institute, is currently running 2.5 hour speed pottery sessions geared towards first-time pottery novices to provide an introduction to the art of throwing on the potters wheel.

Join crystallographer Professor Brian Sutton and artist Dr Shelley James to celebrate the 170th anniversary of Pasteur's discovery of handedness in biology. Brian's talk will take us on an illuminating journey from the colourful tiling patterns of 13th century Alhambra to the 21st century discovery of quasiperiodic lattices, via the ground-breaking discovery of left- and right-handed crystals by scientist and printmaker Louis Pasteur.
