We offer various in-person and virtual appointments to help you steer your future in the direction you want it to go.

Our appointments are conducted by our specialist careers consultants and application advisers and booked through King's CareerConnect.

We offer hundreds of appointment slots weekly. During the first weeks of semester one, demand is incredibly high and you may need to be prepared to try a few different slots.

Making the most of your appointment

Before booking an appointment, we recommend you take the following steps to ensure you are making the most of it:

1. Review your King's CareerConnect profile to identify where you are on your career journey.
   
2. Attend some of our workshops and employer events.
3. Complete our CV Pathway on King's CareerConnect and review your application(s) with our AI tool, CareerSet.
4. Check out the resources available on our KEATS pages.

Appointment types

Career Coaching & Planning

• Length: 20 minutes.
• Booking opens: 48 hours in advance of appointment time.*
• Restriction: one appointment in each fortnight period.

This appointment with a careers consultant can be used as a starting point to your career search. Whether you are looking to discover your options or focus some of your ideas, our careers consultants can support and guide you.

*King's Business School offer specific careers guidance appointments which open two weeks in advance of the appointment date.

Application Advice

• Length: 20 minutes.
• Booking opens: 48 hours in advance of appointment time.
• Restriction: one appointment in each fortnight period.

In this appointment, an application adviser will give you feedback on your prepared CVs, cover letters, personal statements and job applications to help ensure that they are targeted to your chosen role.

Practice Interview

• Length: 50 minutes.
• Booking opens: two weeks in advance of appointment time.
• Restriction: one appointment in each semester.

If you have an upcoming interview, book a practice interview with us to help you prepare. You let us know the role you are interviewing for and we will provide an opportunity for you to practice answering interview questions and give you plenty of feedback to help you improve your interview technique.

The Dickson Poon School of Law offer specific Practice Interview appointments which also open two weeks in advance of the appointment date.

PhD & Research Staff appointments

• Length: 30/60 minutes.
• Booking opens: two weeks in advance of appointment time.
• Restriction: research staff will need to register with King's CareerConnect first.

PhD & Research Staff appointments are available to all PhD and research staff across all campuses. These appointments are with one of our specialist researcher careers consultants.

Careers+ Coaching & Planning

• Length: 30 minutes.
• Booking opens: two weeks in advance of appointment time.
• Restriction: eligible Careers+ students only.

Careers+ Coaching & Planning appointments are longer appointments specifically for eligible Careers+ students. Our careers consultants will support you in discovering your options, focusing your ideas or actioning your career plan.

Careers Lounge drop-ins

• Length: 30/60 minutes.

We run drop-in Careers Lounges in some departments where you can speak informally to a careers consultant and ask career-related questions relating to your degree, your department and your options.

Global Placement Appointments

• Length: 20 minutes.
• Booking opens: four weeks in advance.

Students studying on a King's Business School (KBS) or Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES) course with a year in industry or year's professional placement can book specific application advice slots with dedicated advisors.
