About the Chaplaincy

The Chaplaincy is a resource for all students and staff at King’s, of all faiths and none.  We are inclusive: whoever you are, wherever you’re from, whatever you believe, whomever you love - you are welcome.

King's College London has a Christian foundation, in the Anglican tradition, and takes seriously the pastoral and spiritual support of all at King’s. The Chaplaincy team is made up of friendly Chaplains, lay and ordained, from different faith traditions (Christian, Muslim and Jewish) across the campuses who are available to meet with any member of staff or student in confidence.

Chaplains are public figures in the university, helping to shape a vibrant, caring and compassionate community at King's. We work to support wellbeing and resilience for students and staff, including offering pastoral listening and prayer, and offer opportunities for relaxation and refreshment throughout the academic year.

Chaplains walk alongside people who are going through dark periods, struggle and grief. We also work closely with all other support and service colleagues across King's to ensure that everyone's wellbeing - physical, mental, emotional as well as spiritual - is looked after and nurtured during what can be an uncertain time. You do not have to be in spiritual crisis to meet with a Chaplain: we are practiced listeners and have a wealth of experience in supporting people through relationship, work and study difficulties, spiritual and vocational issues.  If we are ever unable to help, we often know who can.

We hold regular services to ensure that, day by day, the sacred is celebrated in our midst and the members and work of King's are prayed for. We also hold special events throughout the academic year, and are available to mark significant life events such as weddings, baptism and confirmation and memorial services. All staff and students are welcome to attend any services and events that are hosted by the Chaplaincy.

The Chapels at the Strand and Guy’s are open for individual prayer and the lighting of candles, and the Chaplaincies on each campus are available for you to just walk in and pour yourself a (free!) cup of tea or coffee and take some time out on a comfortable chair. Let the Chaplaincy be your home from home, whenever you need it.

To all of you, we offer our prayers from a plethora of traditions, and we invite you to connect – both with us and with one another.  Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to talk to a Chaplain, or if you have any questions that need answering.

Take heart and be kind - you're among friends!

Pastoral Support

Pastoral Support

We are here to provide pastoral support to anyone who needs it, and it's what we do best.

Faith in Action - Making space for students to meet

In a video for Faith in Action on the Church of England website, Anna Beaven, a dental student at King's College London, explains how the Chaplaincy at Guy's Campus brings students together. Revd Jim Craig, Chaplain to the Guy's Campus, looks at engaging students of all faiths and none in creative ways.

Anna also talks about how the Guy's Chapel is a peaceful space that she knows is open for her at any time of the day.
