Visiting Programme

The Cicely Saunders Institute welcomes applications from potential visitors. We welcome individual or group applications from academics and health professionals from a range of backgrounds and all nationalities.

As a World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre we work with colleagues from across the globe to improve the quality of palliative care.

Fees for Long Term Visitors entitles the visitor to ‘light’ supervision (equivalent to two meetings per term) with their sponsor/supervisor, desk space and access to the IT and library facilities at King's, as well as being able to attend events and meetings organised by the Institute.

How to arrange being a visitor to the Cicely Saunders Institute

If you would like to apply to visit us, please contact csi.visitors@kcl.ac.uk to request an application form. Applicants are also required to submit a CV and two professional references.

We can only accept a small number of applicants each year, and these are expected to be closely aligned with the current work led by a member of our senior academic team.

Fees

There is an upfront administration cost of £50 per application to be paid via the King’s College London Online Store at the time of submission, for the application to be processed.

Please note that if your application is successful, an additional fee (see below) must be paid in full to the Faculty before your appointed start date. Payment should be made by debit or credit card, via the King’s College London Online Store. This fee is required to offset our costs.

  • Visiting appointments of up to one month: £375 (Cost per individual)
  • Visiting appointments of up to one year: £4,500 (Cost per individual)
  • Expert consultation visit: £3,000 (Cost per group of up to 20 visitors for a half day visit. Additional visitors are charged £250 each)
  • Bespoke academic visit programme: £5,500 (Cost per group for a full day visit for up to 20 visitors. Additional visitors are charged £250 each)

Former King’s staff members, former King’s PhD students, and visitors from King’s partner organisations (where a Memorandum of Understanding is in place) will not be charged a fee. If you fit one of these criteria, please ensure that you mention this when making initial contact with the department.

Visitor fees may be waived (either fully or partially) at the discretion of the Institute, taking into consideration the applicant’s contribution to the Institute’s work and other special circumstances.
