Encouraging student engagement with Microsoft Teams Meetings (Intermediate)

Description: 

Microsoft Teams Meetings is the core technology for online synchronous delivery at King’s. This session will introduce attendees to the features in a Teams Meeting that enable session organisers to facilitate engagement in their Teams Meetings. Functionality explored in this session includes:

  • Different roles in a Teams Meeting and what each role is able to do.
  • The different meetings settings available.
  • Pinning and spotlighting.
  • Poll creation.
  • Breakout rooms.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the session the learner should be able to:

  • Understand the different roles available in a Teams Meeting and what they can do.
  • Understand the meeting settings available in a Microsoft Teams Meeting and apply certain settings to teaching scenarios.
  • Understand Pinning/Spotlighting features and how these can be applied.
  • Create a poll in a Teams Meeting.
  • Understand how to create breakout rooms.
  • Evaluate the functionality available for students in a breakout room and analyse how each function can support synchronous teaching online.
