About

What is culture to you?

The Global Cultures Institute aims to explore how we can understand and value our diversity and differences. At a time when ‘culture wars’ are relentlessly being pushed through our media landscapes and when the power structures that underpin these differences are so often associated with harmful division?

To address these, we need to understand their origin and development. The Institute exists to promote this through research, education, and public and community engagement. It exists, in short, to talk beyond boundaries.

The Institute is housed in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and draws upon extensive networks within King’s and beyond – with original research forming in the research centres, on our Faculty Fellowships and through educational programmes, lectures and events.
