Helping to develop the next generation of African leaders

The stability of leadership across Africa has been explored and critiqued for decades.

Now, King’s College London is working in Nigeria to develop the next generation of African leaders who can create positive change in the future.

As part of this, Professor ‘Funmi Olonisakin, Vice President and Vice-Principal (International) and Founding Director of the African Leadership Centre, visited Dowen College in Lagos, Nigeria, with colleagues from the ALC.

They delivered a programme of activities, aimed at twelve to sixteen year olds, inspiring them to reflect on the development of Nigeria, the wider African continent, and the world.

The opportunity to deliver the leadership programme at Dowen College arose when former King’s student and Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos Mainland, Provost Reverend Babatunde Akinpelu Johnson, invited King’s College Choir to sing with the Christ Church Cathedral Choir in Marina, to mark its 150th anniversary.
