As well as being co-ordinator of MRC London, James Blewett is Chair of Making Research Count nationally. James, with the other team members, generates the MRC programme of seminars, inviting academic experts to present current research thinking across a diverse array of topics relevant to social workers and their managers (in both adult and children's services).

Jill Manthorpe, Director of the Policy Research Unit in Health and Social Care Workforce (HSCWRU), is Professorial Lead of Making Research Count. Along with other Unit staff members, Jill frequently leads seminars in the MRC programme, communicating findings from Unit research to inform and shape practice among London social workers and social services managers.

The MRC team also provides support and consultancy for agency-based research, supervising a number of projects. And in the Knowledge Transfer Research Governance (KTRG) project, HSCWRU staff independently review research proposals that are presented to local authorities advising on their quality and any ethical or research governance issues.
