In this week’s episode Queer Menopause, Manasi is joined by Dr Leila Frodsham Consultant Gynaecologist specialising in psychosexual medicine and menopause. They discuss the impact of menopause and how to remove barriers to the queer community to access menopause support. They also discuss the importance of training students and doctors on the topic of menopause and how to better support members of the LGBTQ+ community experiencing menopause particularly trans men.

Leila has worked in Obstetrics and Gynaecology since 1996, Psychosexual Medicine since 1998 and Menopause was one of her first special interests. She is a Psychosexual specialist (IPM member (2006) and trainer (2016) and BMS accredited Menopause Specialist and trainer.  She co-leads Women’s Health Block (since 2020), Transition to F1 module (since 2017) in stage 3 MBBS. She has recently been appointed as Senior Educational Supervisor by King's for the GSTT based students. She is a Foundation Training Programme Director at GSTT (since 2016). She leads The Psychosexual Service at GSTT (since 2013), but was previously an O and G consultant at MTW (2009-2016). She is passionate about inclusive care and has run 3 LGBTQ streams at the World Congress of the RCOG (the first ever), and this year is also running a stream on Neurodivergence. She specialises in sexual pain disorders and has multiple publications and podcasts on sexual difficulties.

Professor of Integrative Pharmacology and Physiology 

Manasi is a scientist and educator based within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on the extraction of new information from vital signs data, aiding research and clinical decision making, and identifying earlier alerts of disease. She has expertise in medicine discovery and development and the translation of laboratory findings into clinical practice. She is a fellow of the British Pharmacological Society, most recently supporting efforts to embed inclusive principles into the national curriculum. Inclusivity and accessibility are at the core of her teaching and research practice. She is the Development, Diversity and Inclusion lead for the School and Cancer and Pharmaceutical Science, supporting EDI activities at Faculty and College level. She launched the Humanising Healthcare seminar series in 2023.
