Addiction Sciences

Our addiction research unit brings together sections of alcohol, tobacco and behavioural pharmacology research as well as being home to the National Addictions Centre (NAC). 


Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

We aim to understand how childhood disorders are distinct from their adult equivalents in order to provide specially designed methods of prevention, diagnosis and treatment. 


Forensic & Neurodevelopmental Science

In understanding abnormal behaviour/illness through investigation of the determinants of normal development, we aim to rapidly ‘translate’ our research into effective interventions.

Alzheimer's open day

Old Age Psychiatry

We seek to develop new treatments and to improve existing ones to help those suffering from psychological or psychiatric difficulties related to aging. 

psychological medicine

We focus on the interface between psychiatry and medicine, psychiatry and occupation, psychiatry and the military, and psychiatry in different settings.


psychosis Studies 

Through understanding the mechanisms underlying psychotic experiences and disorders, we strive to inform the development of new clinical assessments and treatments.
