Research

Leading psychiatric research

The School of Academic Psychiatry is one of the leading centres of psychiatric research in the world and we seek to address the problems of psychiatry by taking a bench to bedside, and proof of concept to policy, approach.

The conditions and disorders we research affect people across the life span, from the peri-natal period through to elderly dementia. Our family of researchers work together to translate insights from discovery science (including neuroscience, genomics, social science and psychology) to interventions to improve patient care and quality of life.

Our research groups are acknowledged leaders of international scientific research and make major contributions to teaching, training and research by inspiring and nurturing the next generation of scientific leaders.

Our School is entering a new phase of growth and development as we embrace the new opportunities that are arising from our developing partnerships, to invest strategically in areas highlighted as local and national priorities and make full use of emerging technologies and fantastic research facilities.
