Student membership with the Faculty of Public Health

As an academic member of the Faculty of Public Health (FPH), all students in the division of Health & Social Care Research are able to apply for their Student Associate membership.  

By joining as a FPH student associate you'll be able to connect to the professional home of public health and will be kept informed of their work, support your professional development and campaign on public health issues. You'll also gain opportunities to participate in this work through their specialist networks and events. By becoming a member you will receive their standard associate resources, including resource pack, monthly bulletins and electronic subscription to the quarterly journal PH Today. 

The annual subscription is set at £25.

Bariatric (weight loss) surgery, such as gastric bypass or gastric banding, could reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by around 80 per cent in obese people, compared with standard care, new research published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology journal suggests.
