It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic news of the death of Dr Domenico Spina, who passed away on 5th December after a long and brave struggle with cancer.
Dr Spina was a Reader in Pharmacology, and Head of Pharmacology and Therapeutics Research group in the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science. Dom had worked in the Sackler Institute of Pulmonary Pharmacology at King’s since 1988 and had trained and mentored many young scientists. He was a highly respected pharmacologist who was well known for his teaching of biostatistics to several generations of research pharmacologists. Dom was also a highly gifted experimentalist and had contributed many scientific articles to the field of pulmonary pharmacology.
Dr Spina was well liked by those who were fortunate enough to work with him and was highly respected and liked by the many students he has taught throughout his career. Dom’s death was premature and he will be greatly missed by his many colleagues, students and friends. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with his family at this terrible time.Staff in the Institute will be informed when the funeral arrangements are known.
