Sandra is a Chemist, Magister in Biochemistry and PhD candidate in Biochemistry at Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Sandra's project is to develop new antimicrobial peptides and thier derivatives as new anti-TB compounds, with a focus on cathelicidins and in silico design of peptides, in the research group Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Mycobacterium at Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
Sandra joins Dr Mason's lab as a visiting research student, funded by Colciencias, to conduct biophysic experiments to detrmine the interaction between modified peptides and the mycobacterial membrane. She will apply molecular dynamics simulations, CD spectroscopy, in vitro susceptibility testing and liquid and solid-state NMR.
