About Louise

Louise graduated from the University of Surrey in 2010 with a first class degree in Biomedical Sciences (BSc Hons). She started her BBSRC funded PhD at King’s College London in October 2010 with supervisors Prof. Jayne Lawrence and Dr. Chris Lorenz (Engineering Division).

Her research title is ‘The Formation of Lipid Rafts’ and the main aim of the project is to elucidate the rearrangement of lipid bilayers on a molecular level to form distinct structurally ordered and distinct platforms known as lipid rafts. It will focus on how these changes in lipid composition occur in time and space.

Neutron scattering techniques are required as part of the research, which will be carried out at the ISIS Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford (UK) and Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble, France. This will accompany several other techniques including Langmuir trough and ATR-FTIR experiments as well as molecular dynamics simulations
