About Dr González-Gaitano
Gustavo González-Gaitano is Profesor Titular in Physical Chemistry at the Universidad de Navarra
(Pamplona, Spain), currently in sabbatical leave at the Institute of
Phamaceutical Sciences at KCL, collaborating with Dr. Cecile A. Dreiss. His
research interests are in Supramolecular Chemistry (particularly complexes of
cyclodextrins and its polymers for pharmaceutical, environmental and analytical
applications), as well as Colloid Science (self-assembly of surfactants, polymers
and humic substances) and Material Science (synthesis, characterisation and
properties of nanocomposites of inorganic nanoparticles and thermoplastic matrices,
and cork-based materials).
Dr González-Gaitano graduated in Chemistry at the Universidad Complutense de Madird in 1992, where he did his PhD on the interactions of cyclodextrins and surfactants under the supervision of Prof. Gloria Tardajos in 1997. After that he obtained a position as Profesor Adjunto at the Department of Chemistry and Soil Science of the Universidad de Navarra, where he was appointed Profesor Titular in 2007. From 2005 to 2011, he was Associate Dean for Student Affairs in the Faculty of Sciences.
