PhD project title: Dynamics and Rheological Behavior of Worm-like Micelles
Worm-like micelles are giant self-assembly structures with sizes reaching hundreds of nanometers. They have interesting rheological properties that can be tuned by changing the ionic strength, pH, and composition. Despite the dynamics of such systems being well known, correlations with molecular structure of the components are still unclear. The aim of my project is thus to correlate bulk behavior with molecular structure, using rheology, SANS, cryo-TEM, calorimetry, NMR, and other spectroscopic techniques. SANS experiments were performed at ISIS, RAL, in May 2012, during a 2-month stay at King’s College London.
