Dr Ivana Knyght
150 Stamford Street
London SE1 9NH
Ivana is a Maplethorpe Fellow teaching in the Pharmacy Department at KCL and undertaking research in the Pharmaceutical Biophysics Group within IPS. Ivana is originally from Serbia, but is a former M.Pharm. student of King’s College. She graduated with 1st Class Honours in 2007, and – after finishing her pre-registration training – she returned to King’s in 2008 and began her PhD supervised by Dr Dave Barlow and Professor Jayne Lawrence, successfully completing her PhD studies in September 2012.
Ivana's PhD was funded through a King’s College Health Schools studentship and her research project involved the expression, purification and structural characterisation of human mitochondrial membrane proteins.
Ivana performs the molecular biological elements of her research under the guidance of Dr Barry Panaretou (in the Chemical Biology group at King’s) and is collaborating with researchers in the Membrane Protein Facility at the Diamond Light Source in Didcot, in order to pursue her structural studies of the purified membrane proteins.
