News and media

We produce a range of publications, news, podcasts, videos and events that deliver our opinion and expertise on Australian-related research and current affairs.

Australia: Inside out

The ‘Australia: Inside Out’ podcast series takes a deeper look at Australian politics and society, with a particular focus on topics of interest to listeners in the UK, Europe and beyond. Hosted by Dr Agnieszka Sobocinska, it is the podcast of the Menzies Australia Institute at King’s College London.

The Annual Menzies Lecture

The Menzies Lecture is delivered by a distinguished person, of any nationality, to reflect on a subject of contemporary interest affecting Britain and Australia.

The 2023 lecture titled 'Australia: A New Political Geography?' was delivered by Professor Frank Bongiorno, Professor of History. He discussed the transformation of Australia into a nation very different from what its founders imagined it to be.

UK/AU Season

As part of UK/AU Season 2021-22, we hosted the online world premiere of Australian vocalist Amber Evans performing ‘Who Are You?’ – a poem by British writer Zsuzsanna Ardó, set to music by American composer Hayes Biggs.

For the 2022-23 season, we hosted the premiere of Warriors, a documentary film created by a small group of students and alumni from the Murrup Barak Institute for Indigenous Development, University of Melbourne.

Reflecting on ANZAC Day

Each year, we reflect on Anzac Day (25 April), a day of remembrance for Australians. In 2021, we commissioned a special conversation between two distinguished historians in collaboration with Australian National University.

Hear from Professor Bruce Scates (Australian National University) speak with Jay Winter (Yale University) about the Great War and how it has been remembered.
