International

Professor Roger Parker’s European Research Council-funded project Music in London, 1800-1851 was based in the Music Department 2012-2018. It involved extensive international collaboration, including a joint project co-funded by Mellon between Yale, Berkeley, Chicago and KCL about the place of Music in the Humanities. The first of four conferences – ‘Music and the Urban’ – took place at KCL and involved visitors from the other three universities as well as KCL staff.

Two members of staff have been involved in the Balzan Project 'Towards a Global History of Music', under R. Strohm's direction (2013-16), in conjunction with music departments of Oxford, KCL, Vienna, Zurich, Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Humboldt.

The King’s Music Department benefits each year from the expertise and contributions of a number of visiting researchers, which currently include Visiting Professor Emanuele Senici (Università di Roma La Sapienza).
