What attracted you to the BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies programme at King’s?

Studying at Nanjing Vocational Health College equipped me with strong practical nursing skills and a solid understanding of patient care. However, I wanted to enhance my theoretical knowledge and critical thinking skills to become a more holistic and evidence-based practitioner.

I was specifically attracted to the programme at King's College London because of its world-leading reputation. The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care is globally renowned for its excellence in research and education. Learning from leading academics and clinicians is an unparalleled opportunity.

What are you most looking forward to about the programme?

I am excited to engage in deep academic learning. Although my previous education was very practical, I am now eager to explore the 'why' behind nursing interventions and understand the research and evidence that informs best practice. I am also keen to learn from UK nursing practices and understand how to care for patients from different cultural backgrounds, bringing those insights to my future career.

What do you hope the programme will lead you to in the future?

I hope that this programme will provide me with the advanced knowledge and confidence necessary to become a highly competent registered nurse, either in the UK or in China. The international perspective and the fact that it is a King's degree will be significant assets.

In the long term, I intend to specialise, potentially in critical care or oncology, and this degree will also enable me to pursue a master's degree in the future. Ultimately, I aspire to take on a leadership or educational role in China, and perhaps one day help to train the next generation of nurses, thereby contributing to the advancement of nursing standards and building on the world-class education I received at King's.

What would you say to students from Nanjing who are thinking about studying at King’s?

To my fellow students in Nanjing considering this path: I would say, “Be brave and take the leap”. It is a significant challenge: the academic demands are high and adapting to a new culture is not always easy. But the opportunity is invaluable.

King's provides an environment that encourages critical and independent thinking, which is far beyond what we are used to. You will be surrounded by some of the brightest minds in healthcare. Don't be intimidated by your vocational background — it is a unique advantage that is highly valued here.

Prepare your English diligently, keep an open mind, and be ready to share your experiences of the Chinese healthcare system. Not only will you gain a top-tier education, you will also become a more confident global citizen. It's the best investment you can make in your future.
