How to find us
The Department of Physics is located on the 7th and 6th Floors of the Strand Building on the Strand Campus.
The campus is ideally located between the Houses of Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, next door to Somerset House and the Courtauld Institute of Art, and almost opposite the Royal Courts of Justice. Within five minutes walk of the campus are Covent Garden, many West End theatres, and Trafalgar Square, home to the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery.
The King's College Library is housed in Chancery Lane in the Maughan Library, which has been completely refurbished from the old Public Records office, making a magnificent new library in a traditional setting.
Finding Your Way Around
All your timetabled studies will take place on the Strand or Waterloo Campuses, with the exception of some final year MSci modules and possibly a very small amount of other work. Please always ensure that you arrive in time for your classes. Please note that it takes about 10 minutes to commute between these campuses.
The main library that you will use is The Maughan Library, which is about 10 minutes walk away from Strand campus, on Chancery Lane
At Waterloo Campus, you will have your laboratory classes. The laboratory is located in the Franklin-Wilkins Building (room 4.66 – the first digit refers to the floor level. The Franklin-Wilkins Building is on Stamford Street and has a refectory among its facilities.
The College Computer Centre The Centre runs an A0 printer which you can use for printing posters and displays; it is located in the library in Chancery Lane.
Bush House at the Strand Campus, housing general social facilities and the Student Union in the Southeast Wing, has entrances on the Stand and Aldwich, opposite Kingsway.
The Physics academic staff have offices on the sixth and seventh floors of the Strand Building. The Department Office is room S7.03 and the Physics Seminar Room is also on this floor.
