Open call for contributions: 'Feminist Futures'

The editorial collective of the Feminist Perspectives blog is excited to launch an open call for short (800 - 1,000 words max) research-based and/or reflective pieces on the theme of ‘Feminist Futures’. Following on from the success of our 2020 call regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, we are now looking forward to receive pieces that offer critical perspectives on feminist policy, activism, and theory that dismantle patriarchal structures and work towards creating a more equal world. We are looking for articles that promise to provide a robust intersectional analysis of the varied ways in which women and girls, LGBTQIA+ people, Black, Indigenous and brown communities imagine and shape new feminist futures across the globe.

How can a feminist, decolonial future be imagined? How are feminists around the world already working to bring about transformative change within their own communities and beyond? How can an intersectional feminist approach help us to tackle broader global issues such as (but not limited to) inequality and environmental disaster? We would also welcome reflections on the methodological, ethical and logistical challenges and opportunities of doing research informed by feminist, embodied, participatory and/or decolonial methodologies.

We welcome contributors from both within and outside the KCL community, in particular those with personal experiences of oppression or who are from/based in the Global South. We invite potential contributors to express their interest by emailing the editorial collective at feministperspectiveskcl@gmail.com. The e-mail should include ‘Feminist Futures Open Call’ in the subject line and a short description (100-150 words max) of your proposed piece. Please specify whether you are proposing a research-based or reflective piece and provide five key words summarising the key themes covered. Upon acceptance, the lead editors will provide you with details for submission and a timeline for the review and publication of your piece.

This call will receive applications on a rolling basis until Friday 25th February 2022. We look forward to receiving your submissions!
