Biography

Claire Lucas is a Professor of Engineering Teaching and Learning in the Department of Engineering at King’s College London where she leads Engineering Education research and implementation. Previously, Claire was Director of Studies for General, Biomedical and Systems Engineering at Warwick University using her industrial experience as a mathematical modelling specialist at Jaguar Land Rover where she carried out and managed capability improvement projects and multi-physics modelling including physiological modelling of drivers and passengers.

Claire is a fellow of the IMechE and a Senior Fellow of Advance HE. She is a QAA subject specialist and was deputy chair of the 2022 subject benchmark statement review for Engineering. She is a board member of the UK and Ireland Engineering Education Research Network. She is an experienced academic accreditor for the IET and a member of the Academic Accreditation Committee. Claire acts as a professional review volunteer for the IMechE and was previously a member of the IMechE’s nominations committee.

In 2019 Claire was awarded the Women’s Engineering Society Prize and the IET’s Young Women Engineer of the Year ceremony and in 2020 Claire as named one of the top 50 women in Engineering for her work in Engineering Education.
