Biography
Erin joined the Department of Political Economy in September 2025 as a PhD researcher funded by the London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS DTP). Her research examines how families and communities in Palestine interpret and respond to women’s involvement in armed resistance, with a particular focus on political agency and gendered power relations. More broadly, her work explores how the everyday political practices of Arab women, particularly in contexts of violence and occupation, challenge dominant narratives and disrupt global hierarchies of knowledge production.
She holds a MA in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic Language from SOAS and a BA in Politics from Durham University. Alongside her doctoral work, Erin works as a research assistant in the Department of Political Economy and in migrant legal aid in the UK. She has also held communications roles across British politics and worked in the humanitarian sector, including as a legal support officer supporting refugee children in Egypt.
