Biography

Jonathan Gray is Reader in Critical Infrastructure Studies at the Department of Digital Humanities, King's College London. He is also Co-Founder of the Public Data Lab; Research Associate at the Digital Methods Initiative (University of Amsterdam) and Research Associate at the médialab (Sciences Po, Paris). Research Interests and PhD Supervision

Jonathan's work explores the role of digital data, digital methods and digital infrastructures in the composition of collective life. You can find links to his publications here.

He has recently co-edited open access books on scholarly communication infrastructures (with Martin Eve) and data journalism practices (with Liliana Bounegru).

He is also part of projects exploring humanities-based digital methods for studying environmental issues; online mobilisations of East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) communities in the UK; and critical technical practices in digital research.

Teaching

Jonathan is currently co-convening modules on digital methods and data practices – with a particular focus on critical and creative engagements with digital data, methods and infrastructures.
